The Mystery of the Supranational Rabbit
External Services:
Just a snowshoe hare, with a fondness for efficient, elegant C/C++ programming, and a particular love of assembly, ARM and PowerPC/Altivec especially. What have I done with that? Quite the assortment.. from two versions of The 11th Hour, including a novel video decoder purely in ARM assembly, through a digital delivery system for broadcast radio, to firmware development for a personal media player and work throughout a leading video processing application; a radio-based audience participation device; a novel contour-based video encoding scheme, and another codec, this time for lightfields; and high efficiency cross-platform H.265 encoding.

I also have an avid interest in photography, particularly wildlife. You can find some examples of my work over on Flickr and 500px.

Whilst I do still update my journal, I'm admittedly more active on my primary Mastodon account. ("Mastodon? What's that?" It's sort of like Twitter, but instead of one entity controlling it all, it's a network made of a vast number of independent instances which mostly talk with each other. So you get the benefit of a microblogging platform, but also the huge advantage of actual admins looking after it all, not algorithms, making it a space people feel safe sharing of themselves)

What else.. on the film front, these should give you some idea: Your Name, Into the Spider-verse, The Fountain, Upstream Color, Brave, Summer Wars, Jupiter Ascending, Big Hero 6, Ratatouille, The Man from Earth, Cloud Atlas, Pan's Labyrinth, Spirited Away, Zootopia, The Book of Life, The Girl Who Leapt Through Time, Heart of the World, Inception, Stalker, Sorry to Bother You, Speed Racer, The Matrix, Paprika, Babe, The Saddest Music in the World, The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert, Survive Style 5 Plus, Watership Down, The Wizard of Speed and Time, Whale Rider, Marquis, and Cats Don't Dance.

Of course, there's this televisor thing people tell me about too, and I've encountered some treasures there also, such as She-Ra, Sense8, Look Around You, Orange is the New Black, Danger & Eggs, Babylon 5, My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, Mr Robot, The Day Today, Absolute Power, Futurama, Hilda, Dogstar, The Box of Delights, Greg the Bunny, MST3K, The Innes Book of Records, Gormenghast, Between Iraq and a Hard Place, Max Headroom, Heroes, MasterChef, Kitchen Nightmares, and (naturally) Doctor Who, most definitely including Thirteen. ^_^

I recently returned to anime, with some favorites including the likes of Eizouken, Shadows House, So I'm a Spider, I've Been Killing Slimes for 300 Years, Vivy: Fluorite Eye's Song, Otherside Picnic, Yuru Camp, The World Ends With You, Eighty Six, Kageki Shoujo, Tsukimichi, Hamefura, Bofuri, Deca-Dence, Love Live! SuperStar!!, The Aquatope on White Sand, and Fena: Pirate Princess.

And some of the series which caught my eye in the past: Princess Tutu, Damekko Doubutsu, Haibane Renmei, Higurashi no Naku Koro ni, Dennou Coil, Sweet Valerian, Paranoia Agent, Totoro, Azumanga Daioh, Fullmetal Alchemist, Twin Spica, Evangelion, Narutaru, Fushigi Yuugi, Dragon Half, El Hazard (original series), Whispers of the Heart, Ponpoko, Akazukin Chacha, Kodomo no Omocha, Yakitate Japan, Kamichu, Zettai Shounen, Kemonozume, xxxHolic, and Kaiji.

Music? Mostly in the electronica line, but with diverse influences: Bikini Kill, The Linda Lindas, Studio Killers, Janelle Monáe, Amon Tobin, Sofi Tukker, Röyksopp, Kesha, Poly Styrene, Metric, Ängie, The Mexican Institute of Sound, Muse, Air, Utah Saints, Banco de Gaia, Hybrid, The Tanukis, The Regrettes, Susumu Hirasawa, Daft Punk, Galantis, Miike Snow, Steam Powered Giraffe, Mike Oldfield, Professor Kliq, David Byrne, and others.

You can also find me on Second Life, as Porsupah Ree.
