FWIW, you may notice my journal’s images are currently unavailable. With all due thanks to timberwoof for the hosting he was able to offer over the years, in turn thanks to one of the folks from our mutual engagement (so to speak =:), that’s now come to an end. I’ll likely wind up hosting the site myself hereon, though I may go for some low-end commercial option - I’d need no processing capacity, after all, though I’d want to be careful about low traffic capacities. (If I wanted to share a 200MB video clip, that could add up fairly quickly against the tiny allowances I recall seeing on some offerings!)

On that note, might anyone have any recommendations, if I do go with an external offering? Low cost would be very good, but they must be a good bunch - Godaddy, f’rex, isn’t an option. =:D

I've been using nearlyfreespeech.net for years (Wordpress and occasional file storage), no complaints. It's a prepaid / pay-as-you-go / pay-for-what-you-use system (trick then being to keep it tidy and remove ginormous files once the recipient has had their way), costing maybe a couple bucks a month. Shopping around at the time, most flat-rate plans were kind of like cell phone contracts...the affordable plans with ridiculously too few bits, then costly plans with ridiculous capacity that'll never be used. Though I've heard good things about dreamhost.com, and that would've been my Plan B if nearlyfreespeech didn't work out.
Oh, now, I do like the look of their pricing! Especially without any huge files, that kind of pricing would be perfect for me - the bulk of my domain’s traffic being, after all, just LJ images, and the very occasional video or music file.

Bleagh. Indeed. That’s why I can’t really justify buying a new iPhone on contract - I *really* don’t need a million hours of talk time a month. Indeed, I have a tough time going through the 200 minutes offered by the lowest bundle my cellco offers (but, that does come with unlimited texts, and some modest data, which makes sense at this time of year, where there’s a lot of coordination going on. Especially yesterday, with the journey getting modified by circumstances several times), let alone the multiple thousands most contracts seem to offer.

**hug** BTW. Just because. ^_^
