As for my query on rate limiting: I wound up side-stepping the problem by delivering the files as a torrent, using Azureus' internal tracker. No need to fiddle with system-level software, and the throughput can be easily controlled to suit the situation. Still, it's handy to have sftp available again, and a limiting module for Apache 1.x would seem like a sensible notion anyway.

I've only read the first chapter of that story yet, but it's really nice so far. ^_^ Not that I'm that big a fan of transformation, but the emphasis on honesty, on slaves being living beings with wants and needs, opinions and thoughts and so on... that's very nice to see in a story. Not that I don't enjoy non-consensual, more brutal stories, too, but stories involving willing slaves that are presented as (or becoming) mindless automatons... those are usually pretty dull and unrealistic. (And I always ask myself what kind of Master would want that kind of slave, anyway; I certainly wouldn't.)
I suppose the only weak point was that as our hero started off very much the ideal sub, there really wasn't much change involved during his training, beyond the opening transformation; compare against chapter four of Bandit & Skids, where something more of a change takes place, yet still within the character's original nature. Still, the nature of the story easily outweighed that potential deficiency, and the ending sealed it as a favorite. The species involved didn't hurt, of course. ^_^
*noddles* Yes, that's true - after reading all of this story, I actually thought it was a bit unfortunate that it didn't actually really focus on the training and all that. FWIW, I'm still not sure how the amount of training required to become a good slave could be conducted in a few weeks, too, but... well, I guess if you have the ability to physically modify slaves pretty much at will, instantly, painlessly and without any side effects or complications, I guess there's little you can't do.

On the other hand, of course, that's pretty much a deus ex machina way to handle these things - incidentally, one of the reasons why I'm not too fond of most sci-fi.

Still, a nice story, yes. :) And I actually saw a lot of myself in 073, too; not so much the "he's a perfect slave" part, but the "he really wants to serve" part and - particularly - the part where he's so upset after being the victim of that assault, worrying what his Master will think now and what'll happen to him.

And on a side note, the ending sure made me giggle. Monoboob! ^_^

I thought about going into story detail about the training, but it wasn't really the driving force of he story. Well, that and it was already pretty long as I wrote it. 26 pages, single spaced or something like that. It was to the point where I was looking at it thinking "And this started as a quick TF story!?!?!"

And you'd be amazed what you can do in a few weeks if you're focused only on that task. Trust me, I've had days... "You need a story when? Ok, You got it. 14 pages by tomorrow morning. I'll order chinese and get it to you."

I've had requests for a "sequel", but I'm not sure where to go with it. Well, that's not 100% true. I've got ideas... *rubs paws together with an evil grin*
I'll certainly be looking forward to it. :)
