porsupah@livejournal.com BioJust a snowshoe hare, with a fondness for efficient, elegant C/C++ programming, and a particular love of assembly coding, PowerPC and ARM especially. What have I done with that? Heh! A weird assortment.. from a console and desktop version of The 11th Hour, including the development of a novel video decoder purely in ARM assembly, through a digital delivery system for broadcast radio & TV, to firmware development for a personal media player and extensive work throughout the video chain of a leading application for video processing, and a purpose-specific radio-based mobile device.
What else.. well, anime goes without saying. ^_^ Some of the series which have caught me in the past include: Princess Tutu, Damekko Doubutsu, Haibane Renmei, Higurashi no Naku Koro ni, Dennou Coil, Sweet Valerian, Paranoia Agent, Totoro, Azumanga Daioh, Fullmetal Alchemist, Twin Spica, Evangelion, Narutaru, Fushigi Yuugi, Dragon Half, El Hazard (original series), Whispers of the Heart, Ponpoko, Akazukin Chacha, Kodomo no Omocha, Yakitate Japan, Kamichu, Zettai Shounen, Kemonozume, xxxHolic, Kaiji, and Spirited Away.
Series I'm currently following, or belatedly catching up with: Kaiba, Ghost Hound, Hakaba Kitaro.
On the movie front, these should give you some idea: The Fountain, Ratatouille, The Man from Earth, Pan's Labyrinth, The Girl Who Leapt Through Time, Heart of the World, Stalker, Paprika, Donnie Darko, Babe, The Saddest Music in the World, The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert, Survive Style 5 Plus, Watership Down, The Wizard of Speed and Time, Whale Rider, Marquis, and Cats Don't Dance.
Of course, there's this televisor thing people tell me about too, and I've encountered some treasures there also, such as Look Around You, Babylon 5, Have I Got News For You, Greg the Bunny, The Day Today, Absolute Power, Futurama, Dogstar, The Box of Delights, MST3K, The Innes Book of Records, Gormenghast, Between Iraq and a Hard Place, Max Headroom, and Doctor Who.
Music? Mostly in the electronica line, but with diverse influences: Röyksopp, Lhasa de Sela, Infected Mushroom, Amon Tobin, BT, Tony Gatlif, Banco de Gaia, Dousk, Twink, Hybrid, The Tanukis, Rabbit in the Moon, Susumu Hirasawa, Emir Kusturica, J Ralph, Daft Punk, Mike Oldfield, Goran Bregovic, Four Tet, Bonobo, Shukar Collective, Teddybears, Nathan Fake, The Divine Comedy, David Byrne, Cheikh Lo, Air, Beck, Porcupine Tree, and others.
