The Psychiatric Institute for Abused Cuddly Toys needs to be seen. It's an interactive Flash work, and rather more engaging than one might suspect..

Isn't this bunny photo delightful?

If you have a PSP or a DS - or better still, both - which would you recommend, and why? What are the titles I'd absolutely have to have? How much fun are Lumines and Animal Crossing.. ? (Is there any Katamari goodness coming the PSP's way?)

Here's a musical curiosity that'd make Hermes Conrad squeal in delight.. and the title is authentic. Postal Workers Canceling Stamps At The University Of Ghana Post Office (2.9MB), courtesy of one of my favorite musical weblogs, Aurgasm.

Hm. I may have to try out ATIccelerator II sometime.. it's a little utility for playing with the GPU and VRAM clock speeds on the fly. Sounds like recent PowerBooks are reasonably conservatively engineered, with a 30% improvement easily possible, if you don't mind the extra heat and lowered battery life. Not that I have any actual reason to want to do so - it's just the principle, you know?

Great company name: Dragon Rescue.

New Year's Day will start one second later this year. Just so you know.

Wewt! Finally got the room LAN back in order again - so Ocelot's back to being firewall, modem driver, and general dogsbody, sharing the connection with Mouse over WiFi, and over ethernet with Hyzenthlay. Bunny, meanwhile, remains in slumber, though it could daisy-chain off Mouse over ethernet. (And to think, of Mouse, Ocelot, and Hyzenthlay, it's the newest which is the cheapest of them all, considering prices when new)

But - the USB DSL modem's time has come. It's always been flaky, refusing to pass data multiple times per day. Add in the fact that I want to be able to leave the DSL connection in a usable, stable condition when I'm not here, and I finally placed an order for a modem/switch/WiFi router.

A bit late, but still.. day 24 of Weebl's advent calendar is amusing.

Good to see UNIT back on Doctor Who. Even if the PM's line "He's not my boss, and he's certainly not turning this into a war" pretty much gave it away as fiction. But.. why did she give that order? Overall, I wasn't taken by the direction and editing, but, aside from one or two trying scenes, particularly Rose's attempt to address the invaders, the storyline was highly enjoyable. Very cool ending theme orchestral arrangement, too, modulo mandatory idiot continuity announcer; which you can find here, sans babble. ^_^ (791K) Loved the H2G2 and TLK refs, of course, and the quick preview of the coming season promises much fun to come (and some of that furry, too!) - and, yes, I think Tennant will do pretty well as the Doctor. A Doctor as ascerbic as he should be quite fun to write for.. [Edit: link fixed!]

The CBC variant of the end titles is even worse, with voiceover and squishing the images way down and additional crawl and.. ugh.

But I digress. I'd love to hear that ending theme properly, but http://www.ringtail.com/audio/misc/middleeight.mp3 is resolving to http://www.redpanda.plus.com.nyud.net:8090/audio/misc/middleeight.mp3, and that file doesn't exist. (pokes it!) Still doesn't exist...

Yes, the cat creatures look interesting. And poor, poor K-9...
What's particularly distressing here, of course - not to denigrate the composers and musicians of many other themes - is that, quite clearly, this was a special arrangement, performed by one of the BBC's surviving orchestras.. and they still blather on top of it! Bah! Humbug!

(I wonder if these continuity announcers talk over other people in conversations?)

D'oh! Wrong path. The link works now. ^_^; I'm so used to entering /video/misc in the path..
Oh, that was lovely. Sounded like fleeing across the moors. ;)
That flash was pretty decent, from awhile back. I managed to solve all their problems, but then, living with a ton of critters, it comes rather naturally. *chuckles* And I so need to catch up on the new Doctor Who.
The Psychiatric Institute for Abused Cuddly Toys

That does raise a question, What do plush think? Is it a case of they want to be cuddled or like the RSPCA advert they think "oh its him again, I better keep out of his way"
Is there any Katamari goodness coming the PSP's way?

It was released in Japan on December 22nd! I've got my copy on it's way from Lik-Sang. Hopefully the Japanese text won't proove to be too much of a problem.
Eek! That might sell me on the PSP right there.. ^_^; (And I've long had a fondness for Wipeout, so that won't hurt, either. Ah! That reminds me - I need to order a copy of the OS X version of 2097. Should look pretty good on Hyzenthlay :)
I bought my PSP from Japan back in March once I heard that Burnout was coming out for it. To this day, I've only got 4 games, Lumines, Wipeout Pure, Ridge Racer and Burnout Legends. To be honest, the game I still play the most is Lumines, a game which the DS could probably do. I guess the novelty of having PS2 quality graphics on a handheld sure loses it's appeal if the game's aren't great. This is why I'm looking forward to Katamari, as far as I'm concerned it will be the killer app the PSP has been waiting for. Sod GTA :P
Though, GTA does have the benefit of being a launching point for homebrew. ^_^ Pity there don't seem to be any other exploits that've been taken advantage of, such as in Wipeout Pure - unfortunately, I was saddled with firmware 2.50, so that's the only option if I want to try playing with some development myself. :-P (Still, it does have the benefit of a reasonable browser, and WPA support)

PErsonally, I think the graphics will be done justice on the PSP, looking identical to that of the PS2. Also the dual analogue controls are being emulated with the 2 D-pads on the PSP... which should work. Like I said to Porsupah, this is the killer app for the console as far as I'm concerned. If I didn't own one already, I'd be buying one just for this game :)

Hee! Classic review. Ah, maybe I'll see if I can find a trailer around.. before I can make any purchase, I need to chase up the CFO and enquire as to the whereabouts of the most recent payment. :-P

Aw! That does look, curiously, like a lot of fun. Are you stuck playing a human, or is there a species choice?

Ahhh! So that's where the basis for that particular strip came from? I need to check what VGC t-shirts there are.. I can use a few new furry shirts, but Rabbit Valley's offerings are almost exclusively pin-up art, which - for me - usually doesn't translate all that well to something worn. (Wish I'd been able to lay my paws on the Circles one from earlier this year, but so it goes. Maybe the Fur-Piled artist could be convinced to try one out..)
Ah, if only Touch the Coon (Vinci, from Vinci & Arty, in case you're unfamiliar with the strip) were for real.. ^_^
