The world's fluffiest sea otter.

Further to the thread on kyoht's proposed WD portfolio, another artist presented two of her works on the theme - and if you've any interest in the book, you really ought to look: The Prince's Invitation, and Frith's Blessing. Either would look magnificent as posters, and I recall Rabbit Valley recently began offering such as an option to represented artists.

What is Bad Wolf? We just don't know.

Some neat experiments to try at home, including an arc transmitter, sending audio over a modulated flashlight, and converting a lawnmower to run off propane.

roohbear's got a diary, and various musings of his recent trip to Japan and Hong Kong up; we trust photos will be coming in due course. ^_^

runtt got a fan letter from Russia, from another musician - and his work's worth checking out. (And if you've been wondering what Closet Coon looks like in Russian, here you go!)

So, it's official: the current season of Doctor Who will see a box set release on Nov 21 2005, listed at play.com for £50, cf list price £70. No word on special features yet.

*sigh* Finally got around to watching "Father's Day", and yes, I can see why it's another of the top episodes of this season. Not the most subtle of them, to be sure, but none the less moving for that. (How was Boom Town? It'll be another couple hours before I can enjoy that - no spoilers, please! Although I did make the mistake of seeing the trailer for it last week, which seemed like it gave much of the story away anyhow)

After checking out the website, I know I'm intrigued :-)
I've recently joined the doctorwho community, which is absolutely rife with speculation. I love it. ^_^ In particular, check out the entry on that site's songs - and, as noted in another entry, try highlighting all the text on the disclaimer page there.

As I've said previously, I've not enjoyed TV this much since Babylon 5 - and this, probably even more so. ^_^ (Ye gods, when the first episode escaped onto the net a couple weeks early, and I later finished watching it.. I was pretty much bouncing for the rest of the day. ^_^ They'd really done it - caught the essence of the show, despite the long absence, and really brought it back in style, just as Goldeneye did for ol' 007)

How up to date with the series are you? (I'm about forty minutes away from watching Boom Town, now completely caught up aside from that)

I'll have to do that soon, just to see what's up ;-)

That's good to hear :-) I have to admit that I had my concerns when I heard they were bringing the Doctor back, and I'm glad they got it right.

Haven't seen a single episode of it, I'm afraid to say. Until they get it over on this side of the pond, I'm experiencing the new series vicariously through the observations of others...

Tell me of the bandwidth you have on the other end of the RJ-45s in that office.. ^_^ I'm viewing the series purely digitally. It goes without saying I'll be picking up that box set when it appears in November.

BTW, am I just weird, or[1] is our Mr Eccleston rather sexy? ^_^ (And I'm led to understand he now sports a beard, too)

If you'd like, I could send along the episodes so far, if you have a physical mail address. <hugs DVD recorder>

[1] Not that the two are mutually incompatible.
Ooh! Only just noticed the icon.. in honor of the remake of the production made famous by Mr Welles?
I'm already a big fan of the series and I'm sad Eggleston is stepping down.

I'm wondering if the Bad Wolf will be The Master.

That's my theory, and I haven't read others speculations. I haven't seen Boom Town yet, but I'm looking forward to it.

I absolutely loved the double episode 'The Empty Child' and 'The Doctor Dances' though the only thing I don't like is how the cliffhangers are a little on the contrived side. Both times this season they end the cliffhangers in the 30 seconds before the episode starts with opening titles, and each time they're kinda... well, the Doctor coming up with something almost lame to say.

But I still love the show. I admit to liking Battlestar Galactica alot, too.
Absolutely - from the first minutes of seeing Eccleston as the Doctor (hm! His IMDb entry notes he was in The Others, amongst other films.. I'll have to take a peek at that again. I'd not really been particularly aware of him until this), I was hooked.. that slightly manic grin, an unstoppable joie de vivre (despite all that's happened!), and a keen sense of the snark - brilliant! But, he does seem to want to keep shifting around, so he'll be moving on. *sigh* A terrible pity, but he's ensured (for better or for worse.. see Galaxy Quest :) a prominent position in the Who lineup, and a highly successful relaunch for one of TV sci-fi's most beloved series.

I've got Boom Town now, but haven't watched it yet - a certain hedgehog did let slip something of a spoiler, possibly, but I'll wait and see for myself.. and it wouldn't contradict your thoughts. As I noted in my reply to Merik ^^ up there, Bad Wolf does seem to directly involve the Doctor, probably sending all these clues himself, and Rose. And then there's Geocomtex's support page, using two style sheets, "tabule" and "rasa".. possibly just alluding to Van Statten's fondness for mindwipes, but maybe referring to Captain Jack's missing two years?

Oh, this is fun!

Well.. by their nature, a cliffhanger's going to be a sudden dramatic high point, likely to be as rapidly defused, ne? The resolution in The Doctor Dances, though, I loved. ^_^ It seemed such an impossible situation to escape - and so, they didn't, in what's such a beautifully ridiculously internally logical solution. >grin<

I'll have to remember to avoid the trailer at the end of Boom Town, though, given it sounds like the final two-parter's going to see the season off impressively. (Thankfully, doctorwho folks appear to be very good about ensuring spoilers are kept behind lj-cuts)

And as I recall, next season will see the return of the Cybermen, a long-time favorite of mine. ^_^ Should be very interesting to see how they're brought back, given the new angle afforded to the daleks in episode six.

Have to admit I didn't think Boom Town was one of the greatest episodes, but maybe that's just me. Actually it felt a little like a filler before the big two-episode series finale.
Mmm.. I made the mistake of letting myself watch the "trailer" (in this context, "complete spoilerfest".. egad, what happened to surprising people? I'll have to remember to stop at the end theme this time, probably where the announcer begins their now-traditional babble over someone's lovingly crafted end theme. Agh, I really wish they'd cut that out, unless there's some actual reason to it, such as noting the show'll be skipping a week, or appearing earlier or later next time), and it did give the impression of being a lesser episode. Still, given even those are plenty of fun, that's nothing to worry about. ^_^

Oh, it's going to be a long fortnight..
