Well, that was quite a surprise.. a TV documentary looking at Second Life, and wasn't fascinated by sex, commerce, or reclusive freaks. Instead, we simply had four people, in-world and in RL, describing facets of the virtual world that appeal to them - the need for company, the ability to make money and fall in love, the artistic and creative possibilities, and the emotional support offered by support groups ("people may be getting good therapy, but they may be getting back to an empty house"). I can happily recommend this to anyone who's not involved in SL, or indeed, even if they are: 3 Minute Wonder - Second Lives.

It's been confirmed! John Simm, star of Life on Mars, will be playing a long-running Doctor Who character. =:D Speaking of which, here's the first trailer for the coming season. ^_^

Bunny for the day. NSFW!
Remember Shaun the Sheep, from A Close Shave? Aardman's produced (are producing?) a spinoff series of six-minute shorts. Here are the first four: Off the Baa!, Bath Time, Shape Up with Shaun, and Timmy in a Tizzy. They're about 19MB each. If you want to try just one to start with, Bath Time's a good example. (Shape Up, rather less so)

Grid Wars (OS X, Windows) may be familiar to some.. so shiny.

This'll tickle a few folks: 30 minutes of 80s cartoon openings (FLV).

Quite a cool commercial inspired by Katamari Damacy over here (FLV). Now wouldn't that be a cool way of getting to work? Of course, you could always just try one of these balls. I must try that. Yes. =:D

Nice! Looks like there will be some interesting stuff going on for the Doctor and his new companion to deal with.

Bunny for the day.

Ah, he certainly looks to be a happy bunny. A moist bunny, to be sure, but happy nevertheless ;-)
I'm obviously eagerly awaiting the new season. ^_^ Rose wasn't a bad companion, but I never quite believed the heavy crush she developed on the Doctor, so the ending of the "second" season (I never quite know whether to talk about it as the second, or the 28th..) didn't have quite as much impact as it should've - still moving, certainly. But with Martha Jones, I'm hoping we'll see a more feisty, independent companion. And judging by the trailer at the end of The Runaway Bride, there'll be a bit more furriness too. ^_^ (But no lapine species yet. RTD should address that, I feel. *nods*)

For some reason, those pawpads really appeal to me. ^_^ True, they're not strictly accurate, but one would suppose they'd be very handy in RL - beautiful as fully furry feet and hands are, the fur would inevitably interfere with the sense of touch. I must bear that in mind when designing my future genome. Or was it you working on that?
Is it just me, or are artists seeming to get better when it comes to drawing really attractive pawpads?

I must bear that in mind when designing my future genome.

Do let me know when you get around to that, by the way - I'd be happy to help you sneak into the biochemistry labs here at school so long as you'd be willing to share the results ;P
Well, Ken Sample's always had a particular way with them - his love is for the big cats, so he's had plenty of experience with hefty and adorable paws. ^_^ So tempting to try cropping that for Hyzenthlay's 16:10 display, but I doubt I could really do the picture justice that way. Perhaps I can ask if said bun would like to make another appearance in some future work, maybe more horizontally inclined. =:)

Hmmm. Maybe we need to collaborate with terminotaur - he's quite knowledgeable in matters biochemical and genetic. And on the mathematical side, we've got merik and austin_dern..

Ah, to feel a summer's breeze ruffling through one's lush lapine fur.. almost a meditative thought by itself.
Rose wasn't a bad companion, but I never quite believed the heavy crush she developed on the Doctor

I thought that was played a little heavy handedly, too. And maybe it was just me, but I thought Rose was becoming a little annoying in the final few episodes of her tenure with the Doctor. Certainly not as annoying as Adric was during Peter Davison's turn as the Doctor, but bad enough. Still, the ending of the season was moving, but I agree it could've had more impact.

But with Martha Jones, I'm hoping we'll see a more feisty, independent companion.

I'm hoping the same. Of course, I would've loved it had the Doctor returned to Earth, tracked down Sarah Jane and K9, and headed off with them for the next season ;-)

there'll be a bit more furriness too

Yay! Even if there aren't any lapines yet ;-) I certainly wouldn't mind a return of last season's werewolf :-)

I must bear that in mind when designing my future genome. Or was it you working on that?

*grin* I think the more of us we have working on the project, the sooner we'll obtain positive results...
perv!

send moar pr0nz!
Who, meeeee? ^_^

Mm, I've been relatively sparing in adding new pics to my favorites on FA. I should remedy that.. ah, if only Dark Nek0gami would draw more of ye Orange Bunny - such an adorable character. Maybe I'll bring him back as my desktop background.. :-9

I am amazed you were still able to find a work-safe framing of that bunny. Lucky rabbit!
*giggle* It's a talent that's led to some of my favorite icons, too. =:D Fel's bunny, which led to the "feet" icon, isn't quite worksafe in its entirety, nor is BA's "bunny wiggle".. but in both cases, the expressions were absolutely calling out to be presented as icons. ^_^

I need to check up with the inimitable Mr Sample, and see if he's drawn any other lapines lately - generally, he's much more of one for big cats, but the buns I've seen from him have always been so very cute. paaaaawpads!
Sl is about people interacting with real people rather than watching TV you can be part of TV;)
*grin* (Assuming there's a negative missing there?) That's really what's kept me from plunging into the massive backlog of movies (and even a few of these collections of dead tree fiber, courtesy of a nearby friendly establishment that lends them out to people), and onto LJ especially - the fact it's part of company. There are wonders to behold in good cinema, no question, but it's ultimately strictly passive - you can't communicate with the characters or actors, or the director. Still can be a hell of a ride (Casino Royale! Now there's another I need to finish), of course. ^_^

That was one line I especially liked in one of those segments: "The relationships that are formed [...] are in no way virtual relationships. There are real people at either end of the keyboard, and it's no more virtual than someone talking to someone else on the telephone." - as indeed the second segment illustrated especially well. (Come to that, did you and Kuma first meet online?)

Seconded! *wag* Half an hour of convivial entertainment for the family here.
