Plenty of good news in the US elections - a healthy Democratic majority in the House, including a personal favorite, Jerry McNerney deposing senior incumbent Richard Pombo in CA-11. In the Senate, some gains as well, including the removal of another senior figure, Mr Santorum. Four of the six required Senate gains have been called, with Tester in Montana and Webb in Virginia seeming confident their slender wins will be declared. It therefore appears the Senate will belong to the Democrats. [Edit: CNN's results calls Montana for Tester]

Good to see Ratatouille will be getting good support on the gaming front - THQ's going to be launching their game simultaneously on eleven platforms. ^_^ (OS X, Wii, DS, PSP, PS2, PS3, Windows, GameCube, GBA, Xbox 360, and "wireless devices")

The Register's launched their foray into the wild world of podcasting: RTFM. Check out the first one here, and expect similar reverence as the text version. =:)

BareFeats compares a rev.A MacBook Pro (Core Duo) with a rev.B (Core 2 Duo) over here, with mostly predictable results, though with one notable exception: it seems Rosetta performance is much improved on the newer processor. Whilst other tasks ran somewhat faster than the speed bump would account for, Photoshop results were dramatically different (57 vs 94 seconds in one test, 115 vs 200 in another).

As plushlover noticed, this latest teddy creation from Michelle Lamb is quite remarkable.

One can hope that the Democrats will reclaim Senate, too, yes. :)
Indeedlydoodly. =:) (I need to listen to the Simpsons in German sometime, and see how Flanders comes across..) Even with just the House, impeachment could proceed, in order to secure sworn testimony from Bush and Cheney, which could be most enlightening with regard to the runup to the Iraq invasion, the authorisation of torture, and the NSA surveillance, amongst other matters. Removal and prosecution would require, as I understand it, a 67% supermajority in the Senate, not a simple majority, but we'll see what evidence emerges, beyond what's already public knowledge.

My, how I would so hate to be restrained as that poor, poor Fel bunny..
Flanders is pretty much the same as in the English version - I'm not sure how close his German voice is to the English one, but it certainly fits him, at least. :)

Yeah, impeachment would be nice, although it's hard to say whether it's likely or not. I suppose the republican brains could decide to commit regicide if things get too bad for the party as a whole, but they'll fight tooth and nail to not let that happen in the first place, of course.

Oh, and would you really? ;)
Getting the right voices, of course, is crucial to an animation (or, I suppose, live action too) dub - that's where anime used to fall down terribly often, with actors that sounded as if they were reading their lines out in front of a class. In the past few years, though, that's improved greatly, in part thanks to the efforts of Pioneer (now Geneon), who've done some remarkably good work - the English dub of Cowboy Bebop (a particularly fun, stylish series) was entirely listenable, with actors that really caught the nature of their characters, and indeed, even sounded fairly similar to their Japanese originals. (I always go with subtitles where possible, all the same)

It's difficult to tell what the Republican reactions will be like. There are some reasonably sane figures within the party, but all too often, any show of independence from the White House is shortly followed by an agreement with their position, and an end to any dissenting calls. I'm hoping that leading a country into a war under false pretences, with the horrendous consequences we're now seeing, added to the approval of torture (not only waterboarding, but lethal beatings as well - one instance involved the "pulpification" of the prisoner's legs. They now suspect he was just a taxi driver), will have its consequences for those who made those choices.

What rabbit would ever want to be caught in a briar patch? =:)
*noddles* Getting the voices right is important, yes, and I think that's where less successful series fail, too - if they don't sound good, people just won't want to watch them (again). Interestingly enough, BTW, the Simpsons aren't perfect in this regard, either; Grampa's voice changes occasionally, although I have no real idea why (maybe the voice actors they use keep on dying? :)). He's just a minor character most of the time, so it's not really a big problem, but it *is* rather annoying and distracting, and I wish they'd avoid that. Ah well.

Mmm, yeah, one can hope, but I'm not sure whether it's realistic to hope or not. I'm not terribly familiar with how much outrage is needed for impeachment, but in general, it seems to me that as long as things just happen to foreigners, many US-Americans simply won't care all that much. :/

Hmm, I don't know. You? ;)
Hopefully things will turn for the better in the goverment.

I've gota find out where you hide all your bunny art work. Love to see them!
I do hope so. The US can be such a force for good - it's now up to the Democrats to prove they can take on the substantial problems at hand, and turn them around. I'd like to see Jerry McNerney's experience with wind energy, for example, to be reflected in some large scale deployments - with each farm, the development and manufacturing costs would be lowered, with skilled technical jobs required along the way, towards a form of electricity production that's quiet, non-polluting, risk free (coal mining isn't a safe business, even now), entirely renewable, and without any trade links into dangerous lands. It's only one part of the solution, of course, but there's much that can be done.

Ah, all my artwork collection's purely local. =:) Mostly, it's just from the usual places - FA, VCL, DA, and so on. I really need to go through it all sometime and tag it - that way, I could set up a smart folder to contain all images with "bunny" or suchlike in the comments, or use Spotlight to fetch particular images based on such keywords. If only BA were a touch more prolific - he does some especially fun buns. As does Charon2, for that matter. :-9 Uploading it somewhere might be an idea, though.. I've seen some basic hosting deals for as little as $5/mo, and I'd like to secure such a platform for QTSS streaming into SL anyway - I've a thought or two developing there. =:)
All in due time, hopefully it won't be as long as before.

I'd really like to see that be done. Any bunny art is good, just would like to see it all in one place. But thats just me. One of these times I've gota catch you on SL and bring you to my island.
It could be quite an auspicious Congress. I'm particularly hoping the newcomers, like McNerney, who haven't spent much of their lives in politics, will be able to make a real difference in such matters - energy policy's really stagnated in the US for the past couple decades, to the benefit of nobody but the oil companies. The car companies and union leader alike, sad to say, both opposed improved fuel efficiency, claiming that would give competitors an advantage.. and now look what's happened to the US car industry as a result. Whether there are any people ready to really shake things up, I don't know - it's not an industry I follow more than casually. But one person can make a big difference - just look at His Steveness over in Cupertino. Trouble is, there seem to be so very few top executives who really have passion for what they're doing - so often, we're left with the impression they just have to be good bureaucrats, draw their mind-boggling salaries, and things will just carry on, most of the time.

Mm, I'll have to look into a proper server, once things settle down financially. I've got some reasonable webspace as is, though - much of the task would be the sheer sorting. :-P

Your island? An expansive lapine hangout? Kewl. ^_^ I know once I have the money, I'll be going for an island eventually - it's just the startup cost that's the killer. *sigh* Such a pity, as there's so much creative potential in SL. For now, I'm more looking for a more modest plot to call home, and bring the old residence back into being - large jacuzzi, fireplace, couch & cushions, bedrooms, attic.. really was a lovely piece of work. (Not mine, but the designer's fine with it)
There are systems out there for cars that increase gas milage but no one can make them cause the oil companies own the patients on those devices.

If ya like I could help you out with sorting them out but where to upload them tooo....

Actually I am an Admin of a sim and I have my own little island to my self. When ya have a chance contact me in SL and I'll see what I can do to get you a small plot of land as your own. Let me know.
You've got hotmail! ^_^ I've elaborated on the situation in that email.
Now I understand, thank you.
We await your magical words that might render my life snowy. ^_^
Re the pictyure by Fel: Mmm. Nice paws.

And the Ratatouille game being released for Mac OS X: Squee!
Mmm, indeed so. Okay, so bunnies don't have footpads (they're just uniformly furred), but WTH - they look so cute on him anyway. ^_^

I'm really quite happy about that simultaneous release. I dare say it'll turn out to cost them very little above any other development cycle, too - much of that cost comes in the development of the game strategy and logic, the scripts, voice work, sound effects, and so on. Bringing all that to any additional platforms can, with due care not to lock the programming architecture to a specific platform (at least, without particular reason, such as unusual hardware capabilities), be just a one person task - all the moreso if graphics and audio are handled by portable APIs like OpenGL and OpenAL.

Ahh, still seven months to go until the movie's release! Can't Pixar offer nice people a lil' advance screening?
I don't mind. It means I'll be well rested after FC and able to focus on all the ratty merchandising that will come out with it.
Ooh, yes, the merchandising! Ack. I'm normally perfectly able to resist any such consumerist temptations, but this could be quite dangerous. For me, let alone for you.. perhaps the rackety-coon will have to be entrusted with your cards next summer. =:)

Ah, to work somewhere like Pixar - where everyone realises full well they're doing some really cool work, creatively and technologically (not that the two are separate), and can have fun doing their best in an atmosphere that encourages such. I suppose tbyte wasn't too far off that spirit, albeit on a much smaller scale.. gods, that was a fun place to be involved with. ^_^
I laugh when I see a particularly trashy example of merchandising tied to Cars, because I think to myself, that's exactly the kind of crap I'm going to be clamouring for come June next year if I don't keep myself in check. Don't worry, I'm sure risitn will draw the line at the Ratatouille toothpaste.
MEEP! Pawz! Happy yiffy pawz! Ya, the pawpads are not technically correct but THEY ARE EXPRESSIVE and that's what counts!

*giggle* I didn't want to spoil the flow of the entry with separate text noting it wasn't worksafe, so I thought that was a good way of combining a degree of modesty with the information. =:)

I wonder if Michelle Lamb's every tried her hand at bunnies.. I'm not much of one for bears, but even so, her site's well worth a look. She really manages to capture such liveliness and feeling in her work. Of course, you do pay for it.. ^_^; (Still, to be able to do something as artistically satisfying as that, and actually make a living from it.. not such a bad thing)

Thinking of which, how's it going with your RL furry work?

It's the Hypnoticock™! =:) Though I admit, I'm just as taken by his feet and those cuffs..
(Deleted comment)
It's actually from a page of Max BlackRabbit's "BunnyBoyz" story, from Genus Male issue 3. Rickay there is easily the character I'd want to be.. ^_^

Here it is. =:) There's no real plot, but that's not been known to spoil anyone's enjoyment of it..

Mm, seems fine from here.. my web setup's pretty simple, even if it is distributed across four systems around the world. =:) (Me with the original files, the primary DNS, the web front end, and the actual server. Multiple routes to the warren, you know)

Gack! Given your neck of the woods, I'd've expected something THX. Even in the hinterland, I'm getting upstream 30dB SNR, -32dB, and downstream 21dB SNR, -25dB, according to the router. Line seems pretty clean, though I barely use it for anything but data. ^_^

Ye gods.. that's surely something BT have to solve. Unless it's a cable line. It's nothing simple like a DSL filter gone bad, maybe? Though even that seems to have widely varying effects - here, I couldn't tell any difference, other than every call made or received made me lose carrier. :-P Thankfully, we managed to retrieve the one from the last place. (It's been a good device, too - just some basic 3Com home/office box. I'd prefer more advanced routing options, like giving unauthenticated WiFi users access to the net, but keeping them out of the LAN, and ideally, permitting WPA2 any access, and no encryption==only WAN access, but I'm not sure if that's even supported by any single chipset. Ideally, I'd like WPA2 for me, WEP for the family stuff, and nothing for the DS, given how brain-dead their idea of network comms is)

I can only self-suckle in my dreams. It's so easy to do inside my mind!
"Part of this complete breakfast!" *giggle*
